Proiectul InitWare, care dezvolt\u0103 un fork experimental al managerului de sistem systemd, a implementat suport pentru sistemul de operare OpenBSD la nivelul gestion\u0103rii serviciilor utilizatorilor (managerul de utilizatori \u2014 modul «iwctl —user», care le permite utilizatorilor s\u0103-\u0219i gestioneze serviciile proprii). PID1 \u0219i serviciile de sistem nu sunt deocamdat\u0103 suportate. Anterior, suport similar a fost asigurat pentru DragonFly BSD, iar posibilitatea de a gestiona serviciile de sistem \u0219i gestionarea autentific\u0103rii pentru NetBSD \u0219i FreeBSD. Urm\u0103torul pas va fi implementarea suportului pentru gestionarea serviciilor utilizatorilor pentru Illumos.

\"Managerul<\/center> <\/p>\n

Proiectul InitWare are ca obiectiv crearea unui manager de sistem portabil \u0219i modular, capabil s\u0103 func\u021bioneze pe sisteme diferite de Linux. Spre deosebire de systemd, proiectul nu \u00eencearc\u0103 s\u0103 acopere totul \u0219i se concentreaz\u0103 doar pe func\u021biile de management al serviciilor, sesiunilor utilizatorilor \u0219i managementul autentific\u0103rii (login management). Din compunere sunt excluse componentele pentru gestionarea dispozitivelor (udev), configurarea re\u021belei (networkd), rezolvarea DNS (resolved) \u0219i \u00eenregistrarea jurnalelor (journald). <\/p>\n

\u00cen InitWare se \u00eencearc\u0103 p\u0103strarea unui nivel ridicat de compatibilitate cu entit\u0103\u021bile cheie ale systemd, precum fi\u0219ierele unit\u0103\u021bii, comenzile systemctl \u0219i loginctl (\u00een InitWare \u2014 iwctl \u0219i iwloginctl), procesul systemd1, API-ul sd_notify \u0219i interfa\u021ba D-Bus pentru gestionarea autentific\u0103rii. Pentru interfe\u021bele specifice Linux, care nu pot fi reproduse \u00een alte sisteme de operare, se implementeaz\u0103 suport pentru analogi, cum ar fi utilizarea mecanismului jail \u00een FreeBSD pentru izolare \u00een locul spa\u021biilor de nume \u0219i cgroups, iar pentru urm\u0103rirea st\u0103rii proceselor se folose\u0219te KQueue (fiecare proces are ata\u0219at un filtru de evenimente PROC). Din cauza diferen\u021belor sistemice, nu se poate ob\u021bine o compatibilitate complet\u0103, dar ca una dintre obiectivele enun\u021bate se num\u0103r\u0103 posibilitatea de a rula majoritatea fi\u0219ierelor unit\u0103\u021bii systemd f\u0103r\u0103 modific\u0103ri sau cu modific\u0103ri minime.
