Compania Canonical a anun\u021bat extinderea perioadei de actualizare pentru versiunile LTS ale Ubuntu 14.04 \u0219i 16.04 de la 8 la 10 ani. Anterior, a fost luat\u0103 o decizie similar\u0103 de extindere a perioadei de suport pentru Ubuntu 18.04 \u0219i 20.04. Astfel, actualiz\u0103rile vor fi lansate pentru Ubuntu 14.04 p\u00e2n\u0103 \u00een aprilie 2024, pentru Ubuntu 16.04 p\u00e2n\u0103 \u00een aprilie 2026, pentru Ubuntu 18.04 p\u00e2n\u0103 \u00een aprilie 2028, iar pentru Ubuntu 20.04 p\u00e2n\u0103 \u00een aprilie 2030. <\/p>\n

\u00cen prima jum\u0103tate a perioadei de 10 ani de suport, suportul va fi oferit \u00een cadrul programului ESM (Extended Security Maintenance), care acoper\u0103 actualiz\u0103rile ce rezolv\u0103 vulnerabilit\u0103\u021bile pentru nucleu \u0219i cele mai importante pachete de sistem. Accesul la actualiz\u0103rile ESM este limitat doar pentru utilizatorii care au un abonament pl\u0103tit pentru servicii de suport tehnic. Pentru utilizatorii obi\u0219nui\u021bi, accesul la actualiz\u0103ri este oferit doar timp de cinci ani de la lansare. <\/p>\n

\u00cen ceea ce prive\u0219te celelalte distribu\u021bii, un termen de sus\u021binere de 10 ani este oferit \u00een distribu\u021biile SUSE Linux \u0219i Red Hat Enterprise Linux (f\u0103r\u0103 a lua \u00een considerare serviciul extins de trei ani pentru RHEL).
