Codul proiectului este scris \u00een limbajul C \u0219i este distribuit sub licen\u021ba BSD. A fost preg\u0103tit un live image, cu o dimensiune de 14.4 MB, care poate fi testat \u00een QEMU, VMware sau VirtualBox.    <center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Lansarea sistemului de operare ToaruOS 2.0\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/82f443afc52a2a68e14cf7ad812ca068.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/center>    <\/p>\n<p>Proiectul a \u00eenceput \u00een 2010 la Universitatea din Illinois \u0219i la \u00eenceput s-a dezvoltat ca un proiect de cercetare \u00een domeniul cre\u0103rii de noi interfe\u021be grafice compozite. Din 2012, dezvoltarea s-a transformat \u00eentr-un sistem de operare ToaruOS, dezvoltat de o comunitate interesat\u0103 de programare. \u00cen forma sa actual\u0103, sistemul este echipat cu un manager de feron compozit, suport\u0103 fi\u0219iere executabile legate dinamic \u00een format ELF, multitasking, un stiv\u0103 grafic\u0103, poate s\u0103 execute Python 3 \u0219i GCC.       <\/p>\n<p>ToaruOS se bazeaz\u0103 pe un nucleu care utilizeaz\u0103 o arhitectur\u0103 modular\u0103 hibrid\u0103, combin\u00e2nd o baz\u0103 monolitic\u0103 cu modalit\u0103\u021bi de utilizare a modulelor desc\u0103rcabile, sub form\u0103 de care sunt prezentate majoritatea driverelor disponibile pentru dispozitive, cum ar fi driverele de disc (PATA \u0219i ATAPI), sistemul de fi\u0219iere EXT2 \u0219i ISO9660, framebuffer, tastaturi, mouse-uri, pl\u0103ci de re\u021bea (AMD PCnet FAST, Realtek RTL8139 \u0219i Intel PRO\/1000), chip-uri de sunet (Intel AC\u201997), precum \u0219i extensii VirtualBox pentru sisteme gazd\u0103. Nucleul suport\u0103 fluxuri Unix, TTY, sistem de fi\u0219iere virtual, pseudo-sistem de fi\u0219iere \/proc, multithreading, IPC, ramdisk, ptrace, memorie partajat\u0103, multitasking \u0219i alte capacit\u0103\u021bi standard.     <\/p>\n<p>Sistemul de fi\u0219iere utilizat este ext2. Bootloader-ul suport\u0103 BIOS \u0219i EFI. Stiva de re\u021bea permite utilizarea API-ului de socketuri \u00een stil BSD \u0219i suport\u0103 interfe\u021bele de re\u021bea, inclusiv loopback. Pentru ToaruOS au fost portate programele precum Vim, GCC, Binutils, FreeType, MuPDF, SDL, Cairo, Doom, Quake, emulatorul Super Nintendo, Bochs etc. Dintre aplica\u021biile proprii, se remarc\u0103 editorul de cod Bim, similar cu Vi, care este folosit \u00een ultimii c\u00e2\u021biva ani pentru dezvoltarea aplica\u021biilor specifice ToaruOS, cum ar fi managerul de fi\u0219iere, emulatorul de terminal, panoul grafic cu suport pentru widgeturi, managerul de pachete, precum \u0219i bibliotecile pentru suportul imaginilor (PNG, JPEG) \u0219i fonturi TrueType.      <\/p>\n<p>Proiectul dezvolt\u0103, de asemenea, un limbaj de programare dinamic propriu, Kuroko, destinat s\u0103 \u00eenlocuiasc\u0103 Python \u00een dezvoltarea utilitarilor \u0219i aplica\u021biilor pentru sistem. Limbajul este similar cu Python din punct de vedere al sintaxei (se pozi\u021bioneaz\u0103 ca un dialect mai concis al Python-ului cu definirea explicit\u0103 a variabilelor) \u0219i se distinge printr-o implementare foarte compact\u0103. Suport\u0103 compilarea \u0219i interpretarea bytecode-ului. Interpretul bytecode-ului ofer\u0103 un colector de gunoi \u0219i suport\u0103 threading f\u0103r\u0103 a folosi blocarea global\u0103. Compilatorul \u0219i interpretul pot fi construite sub forma unei biblioteci partajate de dimensiuni reduse (~500KB), integrabile cu alte programe \u0219i extensibile prin API C. \u00cen afar\u0103 de ToaruOS, limbajul poate fi utilizat pe Linux, macOS, Windows \u0219i poate fi rulat \u00een browsere care suport\u0103 WebAssembly.    <\/p>\n<p>\u00cen noua versiune ToaruOS:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00cen nucleul Misaka a fost ad\u0103ugat\u0103 func\u021bionalitatea care a permis implementarea utilitarelor personalizate top, strace, dbg, ping \u0219i cpuwidget.\n<li class=\"l\"> Capacit\u0103\u021bile bibliotecii grafice au fost extinse, inclusiv au fost ad\u0103ugate transform\u0103ri afine.\n<li class=\"l\"> Func\u021bionarea framework-ului pentru feron a fost \u00eembun\u0103t\u0103\u021bit\u0103.\n<li class=\"l\"> A fost ad\u0103ugat un rasterizator de text cu suport pentru formatul TrueType.\n<li class=\"l\"> A fost ad\u0103ugat\u0103 o bibliotec\u0103 pentru formatarea textului cu markup.\n<li class=\"l\"> Bootloader-ul BIOS a fost \u00eembun\u0103t\u0103\u021bit, extinz\u00e2nd suportul pentru configura\u021biile hardware. Bootloader-ul EFI a fost rescris. \u00cen ambele bootloader-e a fost ad\u0103ugat\u0103 suportul pentru editarea liniei de comand\u0103 a nucleului.\n<li class=\"l\"> Interfa\u021ba panoului a fost modernizat\u0103. Widgeturile au primit suport pentru biblioteci \u00eenc\u0103rcabile, aranjarea dinamic\u0103 a elementelor \u0219i feronerie nou\u0103 pentru feronerie.\n<li class=\"l\"> Vizualizatorul a fost
