Problema apare \u00eencep\u00e2nd cu nucleul Linux 5.14 \u0219i va fi solu\u021bionat\u0103 \u00een actualiz\u0103rile 5.16.5 \u0219i 5.15.19. Ramurile stabile Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE\/openSUSE \u0219i RHEL nu sunt afectate, dar problema se manifest\u0103 \u00een nucleele recente Fedora \u0219i Arch Linux. <\/p>\n

O eroare a fost introdus\u0103 \u00een modificarea ad\u0103ugat\u0103 \u00een vara anului 2021, care transforma implementarea unor contoare RLIMIT pentru a folosi structura «ucounts». Obiectele «ucounts» create pentru RLIMIT au continuat s\u0103 fie utilizate dup\u0103 eliberarea memoriei alocate pentru acestea (use-after-free) \u00een timpul \u0219tergerii spa\u021biului de nume asociat, ceea ce a permis executarea codului propriu la nivel de nucleu. <\/p>\n

Exploatarea vulnerabilit\u0103\u021bii de c\u0103tre un utilizator neprivilegiat este posibil\u0103 doar dac\u0103 este activat accesul neprivilegiat la namespace-ul identificatoarelor de utilizator (unprivileged user namespace), care este activat implicit \u00een Ubuntu \u0219i Fedora, dar nu este activat \u00een Debian \u0219i RHEL. Ca solu\u021bie temporar\u0103 pentru blocarea vulnerabilit\u0103\u021bii, se poate dezactiva accesul neprivilegiat la user namespace: sysctl -w kernel.unprivileged_userns_clone=0
