Identificatorii utilizatorului \u00een Speek se bazeaz\u0103 pe aplicarea cheilor publice \u0219i nu sunt lega\u021bi de numere de telefon sau adrese de e-mail. \u00cen infrastructur\u0103 nu sunt utilizate servere centralizate, iar toat\u0103 schimbul de date se realizeaz\u0103 exclusiv \u00een modul P2P prin stabilirea conexiunilor directe \u00eentre utilizatori pe re\u021beaua Tor. Codul proiectului este scris \u00een C++ folosind toolkitul Qt \u0219i este distribuit sub licen\u021ba BSD. Compil\u0103rile sunt realizate pentru Linux (AppImage), macOS \u0219i Windows.    <\/p>\n<p>Ideea principal\u0103 a proiectului este utilizarea re\u021belei anonime Tor pentru schimbul de date. Pentru fiecare utilizator se creeaz\u0103 un serviciu ascuns Tor separat, al c\u0103rui identificator este folosit pentru a determina abonatul (loginul utilizatorului coincide cu adresa onion a serviciului ascuns). Utilizarea Tor permite asigurarea anonimatului utilizatorului \u0219i protejarea adresei IP \u0219i a loca\u021biei sale de divulgare. Pentru a proteja coresponden\u021ba de interceptare \u0219i analiz\u0103 \u00een cazul accesului neautorizat la sistemul utilizatorului, se aplic\u0103 criptarea cu chei publice \u0219i \u0219tergerea tuturor mesajelor dup\u0103 \u00eencheierea sesiunii, f\u0103r\u0103 a l\u0103sa urme, asemenea comunic\u0103rii obi\u0219nuite fa\u021b\u0103 \u00een fa\u021b\u0103. Dup\u0103 lansare, aplica\u021bia creeaz\u0103 propriul serviciu ascuns \u0219i verific\u0103 existen\u021ba serviciilor ascunse pentru utilizatorii din agenda de contacte; dac\u0103 serviciile ascunse ale acestora sunt active, utilizatorii sunt marca\u021bi ca fiind online.
