Un cercet\u0103tor de securitate sub pseudonimul kn32 a devenit interesat de problem\u0103 \u0219i a reu\u0219it s\u0103 elaboreze un exploit func\u021bional, care permite apelarea oric\u0103rei comenzi de sistem, f\u0103r\u0103 a avea acces direct la metodele de tip os.system. Exploit-ul este realizat \u00een Python curat \u0219i func\u021bioneaz\u0103 f\u0103r\u0103 importarea de biblioteci externe \u0219i f\u0103r\u0103 instalarea handler-ului «code.__new__». Din hook-uri se folose\u0219te doar «builtin.__id__», care de obicei nu este interzis. Din punct de vedere practic, codul propus poate fi utilizat pentru a ocoli mecanismele de izolare \u00een diverse servicii \u0219i medii (de exemplu, \u00een medii de \u00eenv\u0103\u021bare, shell-uri online, handler-e \u00eencorporate etc.), care permit executarea de cod \u00een Python, dar limiteaz\u0103 apelurile disponibile \u0219i nu permit accesul la metode precum os.system. <\/p>\n

Codul propus este un echivalent al apelului os.system, care func\u021bioneaz\u0103 prin exploatarea unei vulnerabilit\u0103\u021bi \u00een CPython. Exploit-ul func\u021bioneaz\u0103 cu toate versiunile Python 3 pe sisteme cu arhitectur\u0103 x86-64 \u0219i demonstreaz\u0103 o func\u021bionare stabil\u0103 \u00een Ubuntu 22.04, chiar \u0219i cu activarea modurilor de protec\u021bie PIE, RELRO \u0219i CET. Func\u021bia se reduce la ob\u021binerea din codul Python a informa\u021biilor despre adresa uneia dintre func\u021biile din codul executabil CPython. Pe baza acestei adrese se calculeaz\u0103 adresa de baz\u0103 CPython \u00een memorie \u0219i adresa func\u021biei system() \u00een instan\u021ba libc \u00eenc\u0103rcat\u0103 \u00een memorie.
