LXC este un instrument de baz\u0103 care func\u021bioneaz\u0103 la nivelul containerelor individuale. Pentru gestionarea centralizat\u0103 a containerelor desf\u0103\u0219urate \u00eentr-un cluster de mai multe servere, pe baza LXC se dezvolt\u0103 sistemul LXD. Ramura LXC 5.0 este clasificat\u0103 ca lansare cu suport pe termen lung, actualiz\u0103rile pentru care sunt generate timp de 5 ani. Codul LXC este scris \u00een limbajul C \u0219i este distribuit sub licen\u021ba GPLv2.    <\/p>\n<p>LXC include biblioteca liblxc, un set de utilitare (lxc-create, lxc-start, lxc-stop, lxc-ls etc.), \u0219abloane pentru crearea containerelor \u0219i un set de leg\u0103turi pentru diferite limbaje de programare. Izola\u021bia este realizat\u0103 cu ajutorul mecanismelor standard ale nucleului Linux. Pentru izolarea proceselor, stivei de re\u021bea ipc, uts, identificatorilor de utilizator \u0219i punctelor de montare se utilizeaz\u0103 mecanismul spa\u021biilor de nume (namespaces). Pentru limitarea resurselor se aplic\u0103 cgroups. Pentru reducerea privilegiilor \u0219i limitarea accesului sunt folosite func\u021bionalit\u0103\u021bile nucleului precum profilurile Apparmor \u0219i SELinux, politicile Seccomp, Chroots (pivot_root) \u0219i capabilities.       <\/p>\n<p>Modific\u0103ri principale:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> A avut loc trecerea de la autotools la sistemul de compilare Meson, care este de asemenea utilizat pentru compilarea unor proiecte precum X.Org Server, Mesa, Lighttpd, systemd, GStreamer, Wayland, GNOME \u0219i GTK.\n<li class=\"l\"> Au fost ad\u0103ugate noi op\u021biuni pentru configurarea cgroup \u2014 lxc.cgroup.dir.container, lxc.cgroup.dir.monitor, lxc.cgroup.dir.monitor.pivot \u0219i lxc.cgroup.dir.container.inner, care permit definirea explicit\u0103 a c\u0103ilor cgroup pentru container, procesul de monitorizare \u0219i ierarhiile \u00eenchise cgroup.\n<li class=\"l\"> A fost ad\u0103ugat\u0103 suport pentru spa\u021biile de nume pentru timp (time namespaces) pentru a lega un anumit stadiu al ceasului de sistem de container, permi\u021b\u00e2nd containerului s\u0103 foloseasc\u0103 propriul timp, diferit de cel sistemic. Pentru configurare, sunt propuse op\u021biuni precum lxc.time.offset.boot \u0219i lxc.time.offset.monotonic, care permit definirea offset-ului pentru container fa\u021b\u0103 de ceasurile principale ale sistemului.\n<li class=\"l\"> Pentru adaptoarele ethernet virtuale (Veth) a fost implementat suport pentru VLAN.
