Vulnerabilitatea este notabil\u0103 deoarece permite atacarea dispozitivelor care au dezactivat\u0103 accesul la web-interfa\u021b\u0103 pentru re\u021belele externe \u2014 pentru atac este suficient s\u0103 se trimit\u0103 un singur pachet UDP.    <\/p>\n<p>Vulnerabilitatea afecteaz\u0103 dispozitivele care folosesc versiuni vulnerabile ale SDK-ului Realtek, inclusiv eCos RSDK 1.5.7p1 \u0219i MSDK 4.9.4p1. Actualiz\u0103rile SDK eCos pentru remedierea vulnerabilit\u0103\u021bii au fost publicate de Realtek pe 25 martie. P\u00e2n\u0103 \u00een prezent, nu este clar care dispozitive sunt afectate \u2014 SoC Realtek RTL819x este utilizat \u00een routere de re\u021bea, puncte de acces, amplificatoare Wi-Fi, camere IP, dispozitive pentru internetul lucrurilor \u0219i alte echipamente de re\u021bea de peste 60 de produc\u0103tori, inclusiv Asus, A-Link, Beeline, Belkin, Buffalo, D-Link, Edison, Huawei, LG, Logitec, MT-Link, Netgear, Smartlink, UPVEL, ZTE \u0219i Zyxel.     <\/p>\n<p>\u00cen spa\u021biul public au fost deja publicate exemple de exploituri pentru ob\u021binerea accesului de la distan\u021b\u0103 la dispozitiv \u0219i efectuarea propriilor comenzi, pe baza unui atac asupra routerului Nexxt Nebula 300 Plus. De asemenea, au fost publicate utilitare pentru analizarea firmware-ului \u00een c\u0103utarea vulnerabilit\u0103\u021bilor.     <\/p>\n<p>Av\u00e2nd \u00een vedere problemele cu preg\u0103tirea \u0219i livrarea actualiz\u0103rilor de firmware pentru dispozitivele deja lansate, se presupune c\u0103 \u00een cur\u00e2nd vor ap\u0103rea atacuri automatizate \u0219i viermi care vizeaz\u0103 dispozitivele de re\u021bea vulnerabile. Dup\u0103 un atac de succes, dispozitivele compromise pot fi utilizate de atacatori, de exemplu, pentru a crea botneturi, a introduce backdooruri pentru a l\u0103sa o u\u0219\u0103 deschis\u0103 \u00een re\u021beaua intern\u0103 a unei companii, a intercepta traficul de tranzit sau a-l redirec\u021biona c\u0103tre un gazd\u0103 extern\u0103.    <\/p>\n<p>Vulnerabilitatea este cauzat\u0103 de un overflow de buffer \u00een modulul \u201eSIP ALG\u201d (SIP Application Layer Gateway), folosit pentru a organiza redirec\u021bionarea pachetelor SIP din spatele unui translator de adrese. Problema a ap\u0103rut din lipsa verific\u0103rii dimensiunii reale a datelor primite, ceea ce duce la suprascrierea memoriei dincolo de bufferul fixat atunci c\u00e2nd se apeleaz\u0103 func\u021bia strcpy \u00een timpul proces\u0103rii pachetelor SIP. Atacul poate fi realizat prin trimiterea unui pachet UDP cu valori incorecte \u00een c\u00e2mpurile din blocul de date SDP sau \u00een antetul protocolului SIP.
