Theo de Raadt a ad\u0103ugat \u00een baza de cod OpenBSD o serie de patch-uri pentru protec\u021bia suplimentar\u0103 a memoriei proceselor \u00een spa\u021biul utilizatorului. Dezvoltatorilor le este propus un nou apel de sistem \u0219i o func\u021bie bibliotec\u0103 omonim\u0103 mimmutable, care permite fixarea drepturilor de acces \u00een memorie (memory mappings). Dup\u0103 fixare, drepturile atribuite zonei de memorie, de exemplu, interdic\u021bia de scriere \u0219i executare, nu pot fi modificate ulterior prin apeluri ulterioare ale func\u021biilor mmap(), mprotect() \u0219i munmap(), care vor returna o eroare EPERM \u00een cazul unei \u00eencerc\u0103ri de modificare. <\/p>\n
Pentru a gestiona capacitatea de a schimba drepturile memoriei reflectate pentru fi\u0219ierele obiect, a fost propus\u0103 o nou\u0103 sec\u021biune Mutable BSS (.openbsd.mutable, Mutable Block Starting Symbol), iar noi steaguri PF_MUTABLE \u0219i UVM_ET_IMMUTABLE au fost ad\u0103ugate.
