Proiectul dezvolt\u0103 o construc\u021bie a proiectului coreboot, oferind o alternativ\u0103 la firmware-urile proprietare UEFI \u0219i BIOS, responsabile pentru ini\u021bializarea CPU-ului, memoriei, dispozitivelor periferice \u0219i altor componente hardware, cu minimizarea inser\u021biilor binare.    <\/p>\n<p>Libreboot \u00ee\u0219i propune s\u0103 formeze un mediu sistemic care s\u0103 permit\u0103 evitarea utiliz\u0103rii software-ului proprietar at\u00e2t c\u00e2t posibil, nu doar la nivelul sistemului de operare, ci \u0219i la nivelul firmware-ului care se ocup\u0103 de boot.
