Aceast\u0103 distribu\u021bie se remarc\u0103 prin cerin\u021be mai mari de securitate \u0219i este construit\u0103 cu protec\u021bia SSP (Stack Smashing Protection). Ca sistem de ini\u021bializare, se folose\u0219te OpenRC, iar pentru gestionarea pachetelor se utilizeaz\u0103 managerul de pachete propriu, apk. Alpine este folosit pentru a genera imaginile oficiale ale containerelor Docker \u0219i este utilizat \u00een proiectul PostmarketOS.
