Rezultatul poate fi salvat at\u00e2t ca text deschis, c\u00e2t \u0219i \u00een formate HTML (hOCR), ALTO (XML), PDF \u0219i TSV. Sistemul a fost ini\u021bial creat \u00eentre 1985-1995 \u00een laboratorul companiei Hewlett Packard, codul fiind deschis \u00een 2005 sub licen\u021ba Apache \u0219i dezvoltarea continu\u00e2nd cu participarea angaja\u021bilor companiei Google. Textele surs\u0103 ale proiectului sunt distribuite sub licen\u021ba Apache 2.0.    <\/p>\n<p>Tesseract include o utilitar\u0103 de linie de comand\u0103 \u0219i biblioteca libtesseract pentru a \u00eencorpora func\u021biile de recunoa\u0219tere a textului \u00een alte aplica\u021bii. Dintre interfe\u021bele GUI ter\u021b\u0103 parte care suport\u0103 Tesseract, se pot men\u021biona gImageReader, VietOCR \u0219i YAGF. Modelele antrenate sunt publicate pentru 123 de limbi.
