Ca r\u0103spuns la modificarea licen\u021bei sistemului de gestionare a bazelor de date Redis, a fost creat un fork care va fi distribuit sub numele de Redict \u0219i va continua dezvoltarea bazei de cod corespunz\u0103toare versiunii Redis 7.2.4, ultima sub licen\u021ba BSD. Redict va putea fi utilizat ca o \u00eenlocuire transparent\u0103 a Redis 7.2.4, dar compatibilitatea cu viitoarele versiuni Redis, care vor fi dezvoltate sub licen\u021b\u0103 proprietar\u0103, nu este garantat\u0103. <\/p>\n

Fork-ul a fost \u00eenfiin\u021bat de Drew DeVault, autorul mediului de utilizare Sway, limbajului de programare Hare, clientului de email Aerc \u0219i platformei de dezvoltare colaborativ\u0103 SourceHut. La lucrarea asupra fork-ului s-a al\u0103turat Haelwenn Monnier, autorul browser-ului BadWolf (pe baza WebKitGTK) \u0219i platformei Pleroma pentru desf\u0103\u0219urarea re\u021belelor sociale federative. <\/p>\n

Licen\u021ba codului Redict a fost modificat\u0103 de la BSD la GPLv3 (codul vechi a r\u0103mas sub licen\u021ba BSD, dar toate modific\u0103rile noi \u00een Redict vor fi realizate sub licen\u021ba GPLv3). Astfel, proiectul Redict va putea \u00eencorpora corec\u021biile publicate de compania Redis Inc. pentru versiunile vechi de Redis sub licen\u021ba BSD, dar corec\u021biile \u0219i modific\u0103rile create pentru Redict sub licen\u021ba GPLv3 nu vor putea fi transferate \u00een Redis.
