Rezultatul poate fi salvat at\u00e2t ca text deschis, c\u00e2t \u0219i \u00een formate HTML (hOCR), ALTO (XML), PDF \u0219i TSV. Sistemul a fost ini\u021bial creat \u00eentre 1985 \u0219i 1995 \u00een laboratorul companiei Hewlett Packard, iar \u00een 2005 codul a fost deschis sub licen\u021ba Apache \u0219i dezvoltat ulterior cu implicarea angaja\u021bilor companiei Google.
