FLAC utilizeaz\u0103 doar metode de codare f\u0103r\u0103 pierderi (lossless), garant\u00e2nd p\u0103strarea complet\u0103 a calit\u0103\u021bii originale a fluxului audio \u0219i identitatea acestuia cu varianta de referin\u021b\u0103 supus\u0103 codific\u0103rii. \u00cen acest proces, metodele de compresie f\u0103r\u0103 pierderi permit reducerea dimensiunii fluxului audio ini\u021bial cu 50-60%. FLAC este un format de flux complet liber, ceea ce presupune nu doar deschiderea bibliotecilor care implementeaz\u0103 func\u021biile de codare \u0219i decodare, ci \u0219i absen\u021ba restric\u021biilor privind utilizarea specifica\u021biilor \u0219i crearea de variante derivate. Codul bibliotecilor este distribuit sub licen\u021ba BSD.  <\/p>\n<p>Printre modific\u0103rile din noua versiune:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Func\u021bionarea encoder-ului \u00een modul multi-thread a fost asigurat\u0103.
