La un an dup\u0103 prima \u00eencercare de portare a Firefox pe GTK4, realizat\u0103 de Martin Stransky, mentenitorul pachetelor Firefox \u00een Fedora \u0219i RHEL, a ap\u0103rut un entuziast care a continuat dezvoltarea ini\u021biativei. Proiectul a fost preluat de Jens Persson, coautor al aplica\u021biei Panucci pentru redarea de podcasturi \u0219i c\u0103r\u021bi audio. Lucr\u0103rile la portul \u00eenc\u0103 nu sunt finalizate, dar \u00een depozitul proiectului a fost observat\u0103 o activitate intens\u0103 \u00een ultimele dou\u0103 luni pentru crearea unui strat cu widget-uri, realizat pe baza GTK4. \u00cen forma actual\u0103, munca este concentrat\u0103 doar pe utilizarea Wayland, iar X11 nu este \u00eenc\u0103 suportat. <\/p>\n

Proiectul este complet compatibil cu portul oficial Firefox bazat pe GTK3 \u0219i se dezvolt\u0103 prin crearea unei straturi alternative cu widgeturi, dezvoltat\u0103 \u00een paralel cu stratul pentru GTK3 \u0219i f\u0103r\u0103 a modifica componentele conexe. \u00cen prezent, portul GTK4 pentru Firefox se compileaz\u0103 \u0219i se lanseaz\u0103 cu succes, iar problemele legate de redimensionarea ferestrei au fost rezolvate. \u00cen planuri se afl\u0103 rezolvarea problemelor legate de procesarea inputului, precum \u0219i ad\u0103ugarea suportului pentru clipboard, modul drag & drop, dialoguri pentru selectarea fi\u0219ierelor, culorilor, emoji \u0219i aplica\u021biilor de procesare.
