ODF este aplicabil pentru crearea, editarea, vizualizarea, schimbul \u0219i arhivarea documentelor, care pot reprezenta documente text, prezent\u0103ri, foi de calcul, materiale grafice raster, desene vectoriale, diagrame \u0219i alte tipuri de con\u021binut.    <\/p>\n<p>Principalele direc\u021bii de dezvoltare pentru OpenDocument 1.4:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Capabilit\u0103\u021bi pentru editarea \u00een cloud: adaptarea ODF pentru colaborarea \u00een timp real pe con\u021binut, utiliz\u00e2nd protocoale precum WOPI \u0219i CMIS.\n<li class=\"l\"> Func\u021bionalit\u0103\u021bi extinse de gestionare a con\u021binutului multimedia: suport pentru integrarea \u00een documente a unor con\u021binuturi precum video \u0219i componente web.\n<li class=\"l\"> Profiluri de securitate: standardizarea capabilit\u0103\u021bilor pentru medii care necesit\u0103 un nivel ridicat de protec\u021bie, cum ar fi sistemele guvernamentale \u0219i medicale.
