D7VK func\u021bioneaz\u0103 prin transla\u021bia apelurilor \u00een API-ul Vulkan \u0219i permite rularea jocurilor retro legate de API-ul Direct3D 7 pe Linux, utiliz\u00e2nd Wine. Codul proiectului este scris \u00een C++ \u0219i este distribuit sub licen\u021ba Zlib. Ca baz\u0103 de dezvoltare, a fost utilizat codul backend-ului d3d9 din proiectul DXVK.     <\/p>\n<p>Versiunea 1.0 este marcat\u0103 ca prima versiune preg\u0103tit\u0103 pentru utilizare pe scar\u0103 larg\u0103. Comparativ cu WineD3D, aceasta suport\u0103 antialiasing \u00een desenare (D3DRENDERSTATE_ANTIALIAS) \u0219i ofer\u0103 posibilitatea de a limita rata de cadre pentru jocurile mai vechi, care func\u021bioneaz\u0103 incorect la FPS-uri mari. \u00cen ceea ce prive\u0219te performan\u021ba, D7VK a fost de aproape trei ori mai rapid dec\u00e2t WineD3D (45267 fa\u021b\u0103 de 16566) \u00een testul 3DMark 2000 pe un sistem cu GPU NVIDIA RTX 4070 \u0219i driverul proprietar NVIDIA 570.195.03.
