Alexander Aring de la compania Red Hat, care sus\u021bine subsistemele IEEE 802.15.4, DLM \u0219i flock\/fcntl \u00een nucleul Linux, a prezentat pe lista de discu\u021bii a dezvoltatorilor nucleului un sistem de fi\u0219iere specializat, DLMPFS. FS propus ofer\u0103 un strat pentru bloc\u0103rile distribuite ale fi\u0219ierelor, implementat pe baza DLM (Distributed Lock Manager) \u0219i ramfs. Implementarea DLMPFS este disponibil\u0103 sub form\u0103 de set de patch-uri pentru nucleul Linux 6.19. <\/p>\n

DLMPFS permite lucrul cu o ierarhie de fi\u0219iere comun\u0103 pentru mai multe gazde, cre\u00e2nd \u0219i \u0219terg\u00e2nd fi\u0219iere \u0219i directoare, aplic\u00e2nd sau ridic\u00e2nd bloc\u0103ri pe fi\u0219iere prin intermediul func\u021biilor standard flock() \u0219i fcntl(). Totodat\u0103, DLMPFS nu permite scrierea \u0219i citirea de date din fi\u0219iere, limit\u00e2ndu-se doar la opera\u021biuni cu bloc\u0103ri. O alt\u0103 limitare este posibilitatea de a determina starea bloc\u0103rii \u0219tiind doar calea complet\u0103 a fi\u0219ierului blocat (DLM necesit\u0103 numele resursei pentru a determina blocarea). <\/p>\n

Cu ajutorul DLMPFS, este u\u0219or s\u0103 adapta\u021bi aplica\u021biile existente, care se bazeaz\u0103 pe aplicarea bloc\u0103rilor prin API-ul flock\/fcntl, pentru a utiliza bloc\u0103rile distribuite, acoperind mai multe gazde din cluster, f\u0103r\u0103 a fi nevoie de utilizarea unor sisteme de fi\u0219iere distribuite specializate pentru stocarea datelor. <\/p>\n

DLMPFS se deosebe\u0219te de sistemul de fi\u0219iere similar existent, DLMFS, prin utilizarea API-ului flock\/fcntl \u00een locul API-ului specific pentru sistemul de fi\u0219iere OCFS2. \u00cen planurile viitoare se afl\u0103 ad\u0103ugarea bloc\u0103rilor distribuite, marcate \u00een specifica\u021bia POSIX, \u0219i posibilitatea conect\u0103rii la diferite backend-uri pentru integrarea nu doar cu DLM, ci \u0219i cu al\u021bi manageri de bloc\u0103ri distribuite, cum ar fi NFS lockd. <\/p>\n
