Limbajul APL se caracterizeaz\u0103 prin optimizarea pentru lucrul cu matrice de ad\u00e2ncimi variate \u0219i suportul pentru numere complexe, ceea ce \u00eel face c\u0103utat pentru calcule \u0219tiin\u021bifice \u0219i prelucrarea datelor. La \u00eenceputul anilor '70, ideea unei ma\u0219ini APL a dat impuls dezvolt\u0103rii primului computer personal din lume, IBM 5100. APL a fost, de asemenea, extrem de popular pe calculatoarele sovietice de la \u00eenceputul anilor '80.
