Linus Torvalds a lansat a \u0219asea versiune de test s\u0103pt\u0103m\u00e2nal\u0103 a viitorului nucleu Linux 5.3. Aceast\u0103 lansare marcheaz\u0103 28 de ani de la debutul primei versiuni a nucleului noului sistem de operare pe vremea aceea.<\/p>\n

Torvalds a reformulat primul s\u0103u mesaj pe aceast\u0103 tem\u0103 pentru anun\u021b. Acesta sun\u0103 astfel:<\/p>\n

«Fac o sistem de operare (gratuit\u0103) (aceasta este mai mult dec\u00e2t o simpl\u0103 pasiune) pentru clonele 486 AT \u0219i multe alte solu\u021bii hardware. A fost o necesitate pe parcursul ultimilor 28 de ani, \u0219i totu\u0219i nu este finalizat. A\u0219 dori s\u0103 primesc feedback cu privire la orice erori prezentate \u00een aceast\u0103 versiune (sau erori mai vechi, dac\u0103 este cazul)», a scris dezvoltatorul.<\/p>\n

Nucleul Linux modern are peste 26 milioane de linii de cod.<\/p>\n

Dup\u0103 cum se men\u021bioneaz\u0103, estimarea dezvolt\u0103rii unui astfel de proiect de la zero «ar fi costat» \u00eentre 1 \u0219i 3 miliarde de dolari.<\/p>\n
