FreeNAS este bazat pe sistemul de operare <strong>FreeBSD<\/strong>. Ca caracteristic\u0103 principal\u0103 se remarc\u0103 suportul integrat pentru ZFS, posibilitatea de a gestiona sistemul printr-o interfa\u021b\u0103 web, scris\u0103 \u00een Python folosind cadrul Django.
