Baza acestui algoritm este p\u0103strarea memoriei alocate, care con\u021bine un obiect de un anumit tip, \u0219i reutilizarea acesteia la urm\u0103toarea alocare pentru un obiect de acela\u0219i tip. Aceast\u0103 metod\u0103 a fost introdus\u0103 pentru prima dat\u0103 \u00een SunOS de Jeff Bonwick \u0219i este acum utilizat\u0103 pe scar\u0103 larg\u0103 \u00een nucleele multor sisteme de operare Unix, inclusiv FreeBSD \u0219i Linux.<\/p>\n<p>La baza noului controler se afl\u0103 transferul contabiliz\u0103rii slab de la nivelul paginilor de memorie la nivelul obiectelor nucleului, ceea ce permite utilizarea comun\u0103 a unei pagini slab \u00een diferite cgroup-uri, \u00een loc de alocarea unui cache separat pentru fiecare cgroup.<\/p>\n<p>Conform rezultatelor testelor, se pare c\u0103 metoda propus\u0103 de gestionare a memoriei permite cre\u0219terea <strong>eficien\u021bei<\/strong> utiliz\u0103rii slab <strong>p\u00e2n\u0103 la 45%<\/strong>, precum \u0219i reducerea consumului total de memorie al nucleului sistemului de operare. De asemenea, prin reducerea num\u0103rului de pagini alocate pentru slab, se reduce fragmentarea memoriei \u00een general, ceea ce nu poate dec\u00e2t s\u0103 influen\u021beze performan\u021ba sistemului.<\/p>\n<p>Noul controler a fost testat pe serverele de lucru Facebook timp de c\u00e2teva luni, iar p\u00e2n\u0103 acum acest test poate fi considerat de succes: f\u0103r\u0103 pierderi \u00een performan\u021b\u0103 \u0219i f\u0103r\u0103 cre\u0219terea num\u0103rului de erori, a fost observat\u0103 o reducere semnificativ\u0103 a consumului de memorie \u2014 pe unele servere cu p\u00e2n\u0103 la 1GB. Acest num\u0103r este destul de subiectiv, de exemplu, teste anterioare au ar\u0103tat rezultate pu\u021bin mai mici:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>650-700 MB pe front-end-ul web<\/li>\n<li>750-800 MB pe serverul
