VeraCrypt se remarc\u0103 prin \u00eenlocuirea algoritmului RIPEMD-160 utilizat \u00een TrueCrypt cu SHA-512 \u0219i SHA-256, prin cre\u0219terea num\u0103rului de itera\u021bii de hash, simplificarea procesului de construire pentru Linux \u0219i macOS, \u0219i prin eliminarea problemelor identificate \u00een timpul auditului codului surs\u0103 TrueCrypt. \u00cen acela\u0219i timp, VeraCrypt ofer\u0103 un mod de compatibilitate cu parti\u021biile TrueCrypt \u0219i con\u021bine instrumente pentru convertirea parti\u021biilor TrueCrypt \u00een format VeraCrypt.
