Nathan este cunoscut pentru contribu\u021biile sale la generarea nucleului Linux folosind compilatorul Clang \u0219i integrarea mecanismelor de protec\u021bie la etapa de compilare, cum ar fi CFI (Control Flow Integrity). Gustavo este unul dintre participan\u021bii activi ai proiectului KSPP (Kernel Self Protection Project) dedicat promov\u0103rii tehnologiilor de protec\u021bie activ\u0103 \u00een nucleul Linux. Sarcina principal\u0103 a lui Gustavo va fi eliminarea anumitor clase de overflow de buffer, prin \u00eenlocuirea tuturor instan\u021belor de array-uri cu dimensiune zero sau care con\u021bin un singur element cu declara\u021bii de array-uri flexibile (Flexible Array Member). \u00cen plus, Gustavo va lucra la corectarea erorilor din cod \u00eenainte de a ajunge \u00een nucleul principal \u0219i dezvoltarea mecanismelor de protec\u021bie activ\u0103 \u00een nucleu.
