Vydanie minimalistického súboru systémových utilít Toybox 0.8.12

Bol releases Toybox 0.8.12, a set of system utilities optimized for minimal resource consumption. Similar to BusyBox, all utilities are accessible through a single executable file. The project is developed by a former BusyBox maintainer and distributed under the 0BSD license. The goal of creating Toybox is to provide manufacturers with the ability to use a minimalist set of standard utilities without exposing the source code of modified components. Toybox currently lags behind BusyBox in capabilities, but it has already implemented 316 basic commands (235 fully and 81 partially) out of 392 planned.

Among the innovations in Toybox 0.8.12:

  • The tar command has added support for the zstd compression algorithm and can now handle outdated archive formats.
  • The getconf command implements handling of the NPROCESSORS_CONF and NPROCESSORS_ONLN environment variables.
  • Netcat has added the '-o' and '-O' options.
  • Devmem now supports the '—no-mmap', '-f FILE', and '—no-sync' options.
  • Test now includes the '-ef', '-ot', and '-nt' options.
  • Dmesg has added the '-W' option.
  • Mount now supports 'LABEL='.
  • Lsusb and lspci now take into account the contents of /usr/share/hwdata.
  • Errors have been fixed and implementations of the utilities grep, host, find, chmod, tar, ps, test, file, patch, cp, lsusb, top, blkid, ionice, and microcom have been improved.
  • Support for building on the riscv32 and riscv64 platforms has been added.
