V Toxcore, referen\u010dni izvedbi P2P protokola za izmenjavo sporo\u010dil Tox, je bila odkrita ranljivost (CVE-2021-44847), ki potencialno omogo\u010da izvajanje kode pri obdelavi posebej oblikovanega UDP paketa. Vsem uporabnikom aplikacij, temelje\u010dih na Toxcore, ki nimajo izklopljenega UDP prometa, grozi ta ranljivost. Za napad je dovolj poslati UDP paket, poznati IP naslov, omre\u017eni port in odprt DHT klju\u010d \u017ertve (te informacije so javno dostopne v DHT, torej je napad mogo\u010de izvesti na kateregakoli uporabnika ali vozli\u0161\u010de DHT). <\/p>\n

Te\u017eava se je pojavljala v razli\u010dicah toxcore od 0.1.9 do 0.2.12 in je bila odpravljena v razli\u010dici 0.2.13. Od odjemalskih aplikacij je posodobitev, ki odpravi ranljivost, do sedaj izdal le projekt qTox. Vulnerability caused by a buffer overflow in the handle_request() function, occurring due to an incorrect calculation of data size in the network packet. Specifically, the length of the encrypted data was determined in the CRYPTO_SIZE macro, defined as \"1 + CRYPTO_PUBLIC_KEY_SIZE * 2 + CRYPTO_NONCE_SIZE,\" which was later used in the subtraction operation \"length - CRYPTO_SIZE.\" Due to the lack of parentheses in the macro, instead of subtracting the total of all values, it performed subtraction of 1 and addition of the other parts. For example, instead of \"length - (1 + 32 * 2 + 24),\" the buffer size was calculated as \"length - 1 + 32 * 2 + 24,\" leading to data being overwritten in the stack beyond the buffer.
