Platforma se razvija v <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/webosose\/\">javni repozitorij<\/a><\/noindex> pod licenco Apache 2.0, razvoj pa usklajuje skupnost, ki se dr\u017ei <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/webosose.org\/discover\/getting-started\/governance-model\/\">skupnega modela upravljanja razvoja<\/a><\/noindex>. Kot referen\u010dna strojna platforma so izbrane plo\u0161\u010de Raspberry Pi 4.<\/p>\n<p>Platforma webOS je bila leta 2013 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=36223\">odkupljena<\/a><\/noindex> od podjetja LG od Hewlett-Packard in se uporablja na ve\u010d kot 70 milijonih televizorjev in potro\u0161ni\u0161kih naprav LG. Projekt webOS Open Source Edition je bil ustanovljen leta 2018, po tem, ko je podjetje LG poskusilo ponovno uvesti odprti model razvoja za privabljanje drugih udele\u017eencev ter \u0161iritev spektra naprav, na katerih se lahko uporablja webOS.<\/p>\n<p>Sistem webOS se oblikuje z uporabo orodij in osnovnih paketov <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.openembedded.org\/\">OpenEmbedded<\/a><\/noindex>, kot tudi sistem gradnje in niz metadatenih iz projekta <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.yoctoproject.org\/\">Yocto<\/a><\/noindex>. Klju\u010dne sestavine webOS so upraviteljska in aplikacijska enota (SAM, System and Application Manager), ki skrbi za izvajanje aplikacij in storitev, ter Luna Surface Manager (LSM), ki ustvarja uporabni\u0161ki vmesnik. Komponente so napisane z uporabo ogrodja Qt in brskalni\u0161kega motorja Chromium.<\/p>\n<p>Prikazovanje poteka preko kompozitnega upravljalnika, ki uporablja protokol Wayland. Za razvoj uporabni\u0161kih aplikacij je priporo\u010dljivo uporabljati spletne tehnologije (CSS, HTML5 in JavaScript) in ogrodje <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/enactjs.com\/\">Enact<\/a><\/noindex>, temelje\u010de na React, vendar je mo\u017eno tudi ustvarjanje programov v jeziku C in C++ z vmesnikom, temelje\u010dem na Qt. Uporabni\u0161ki vmesnik in vgrajene grafi\u010dne aplikacije so v glavnem realizirane kot nativni programi, napisani z uporabo tehnologije QML. <\/p>\n<p>Za shranjevanje podatkov v strukturirani obliki z uporabo formata JSON se uporablja shramba  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/webosose\/db8\">DB8<\/a><\/noindex>, ki za backend uporablja bazo podatkov LevelDB.<br \/>\nZa inicializacijo se uporablja <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/webosose\/webos-initscripts\">bootd<\/a><\/noindex> na osnovi systemd.
