VeraCrypt se isti\u010de zamenom algoritma RIPEMD-160 kori\u0161\u0107enog u TrueCrypt-u za SHA-512 i SHA-256, pove\u0107anjem broja iteracija he\u0161iranja, pojednostavljivanjem procesa izgradnje za Linux i macOS, kao i otklanjanjem problema identifikovanih tokom revizije izvornih tekstova TrueCrypt. Pored toga, VeraCrypt pru\u017ea re\u017eim kompatibilnosti sa TrueCrypt particijama i sadr\u017ei alate za konvertovanje TrueCrypt particija u VeraCrypt format.
