Firmware Updater, or fwupd â a project aimed at simplifying and enhancing the reliability of the automatic firmware update process in Linux. By default, the code is downloaded from the repository LVFS (ShĂ«rbimi i Firmuerit tĂ« Ofruesve tĂ« Linuxit).
The project is licensed under LGPLv2.1. Support is available in the IRC channel #fwupd on LiberaChat and on GitHub.
Minor update 1.9.25 was released last week by developer Richard Hughes and mainly includes bug fixes (the check for the size of Synaptics MST firmware has been corrected, names of zero-length devices are no longer installed, etc.). Support for the following devices has also been added:
- Algoltek devices with sector erase support;
- Dell K2 dock;
- Intel 5787 USB4 hub
- more scaler devices from MediaTek;
- Nordic HID devices with DFUv1 support
