\nIn total, we had two captains, three sailors, and a secret weapon in the form of a DJ. There weren't any strict duties for anyone. Each person could do, and did, everything. The question was only what someone did better and what worse. Before the trip, I thought it would be a problem to occupy an entire day. In reality, time flew by unnoticed, and tasks found themselves. The yacht doesn't stay still \u2014 someone has to monitor the course, instruments, surroundings, and the wind. When the wind changes, it's time to alter the course because we've reached a point, or just because we need to pass someone? One at the helm, one at the instruments, two on the winches, and one at the piano. Periodically, we switched places, so everyone got to experience all roles.<\/p>\n

Tell us about your captain. One eye? Wooden leg? Drunk on rum? What stories did he tell?<\/h4>\n

\nI'm generally from a port city, and due to my work, I've had the chance to experience military and fishing vessels. I've seen many sailors, and our captain, despite lacking external signs (wooden leg, eye patch, and a parrot on his shoulder), had enough experience to rival even Long John Silver. Even though in the first days we only listened to commands, instructions, and various 'anchor to your liver!', in the following days the captain showed he could easily handle not just storms and mooring in difficult conditions, but also the local rum, emerging victorious from all adventures. And on one of the days, when the race was canceled due to calm seas, we not only swam in warm waters but also heard stories from the captain, filled with adventures, shootouts, and sea crossings. By the way, there were also tales about treasure, barrels of rum, and chests with corpses.<\/p>\n

How did you cope with the race? Was it difficult? Did you want to feed someone to the fish?<\/h4>\n

\nPersonally, I think that for a team of newcomers, where everyone except for the captain went on deck for the first time, we did excellently. Of course, there were problems, but everyone tried and did everything they could, they didn't back down or give up. At first, it was difficult, but by the middle of the race, no one made particularly rough mistakes, so if anyone wanted to feed someone to the fish, it was the opponents who managed to overtake us in the next stage.<\/p>\n

What was the biggest achievement and the most intense failure of the team?<\/h4>\n

\nThe main achievement \u2014 we made it. No one gave up, no one left the deck, everyone fought until the end. There were no emergencies, no one got hurt, the yacht sustained no damage. On one of the days, there were as many as four collisions between yachts, and according to the competition rules, such a yacht is immediately disqualified. So, I consider our biggest achievement not the second place in a challenging stage with a night passage between the islands but rather the coordinated teamwork, where everyone almost without words understood what was required of them. Therefore, I can't say there were any 'intense failures.' Everyone made mistakes; sometimes nature interfered, sometimes circumstances, but overall we succeeded.<\/p>\n

How tough was the race itself? Did a personal drone monitor each yacht? Was there time for port... girls?<\/h4>\n

\nOverall, the race, while positioned as 'for beginner skippers,' is still more suitable for those not going out to sea for the first time. This is evident from how tasks for the day are assigned and the tasks themselves. We, as newcomers, never managed to stick to the 'four hours on the route.' By the way, there is a special tracking program that monitors task completion. We always docked at the marina in darkness, and usually left for the sea after 9 o'clock, so we spent about 12 hours daily on deck. Despite such loads, upon arriving at port, we always had energy left to explore a new island; however, visiting a restaurant or caf\u00e9 was usually the first priority to regain strength. Well, the concert organized by the hosts featuring Nayk Borzov was eagerly attended by everyone. <\/p>\n
