Historia e m\u00ebparshme<\/h2>\n

N\u00eb vitin 2005 mbarova universitetin n\u00eb qytetin tim t\u00eb lindjes Saratov dhe shkova p\u00ebr studime pasuniversitare n\u00eb Dubna, Podmoskva. M\u00eb kishte ndodhur mir\u00eb me pun\u00ebn e par\u00eb t\u00eb mir\u00eb (C++, Windows, Linux, nj\u00eb proces zhvillimi i mir\u00eb), por n\u00eb vitin 2011 gjeta nj\u00eb t\u00eb re. Po ashtu C++, por vet\u00ebm sh\u00ebnime Linux dhe nj\u00eb grup m\u00eb interesant teknologjish.<\/p>\n

N\u00eb vitin 2013 p\u00ebrfundimisht mbrojta doktorat\u00ebn dhe p\u00ebr her\u00eb t\u00eb par\u00eb e mblodha guximin t\u00eb l\u00ebviz n\u00eb drejtim t\u00eb huaj. Samsung po organizonte nj\u00eb panair n\u00eb Mosk\u00eb, un\u00eb i d\u00ebrgova atyre nj\u00eb CV. N\u00eb p\u00ebrgjigje, m\u00eb intervistuan madje me telefon. N\u00eb anglisht! \nAt that point, I discarded the idea of going abroad and changed my job. I worked with C++, Linux, Windows, and even wrote a little for microcontrollers in C. In 2014, I took out a mortgage and moved to the nearest Moscow region. In 2015, I was laid off (many were laid off at that time), and in a hurry, I found a job. Realizing my mistake, I started searching again, and that same year, I ended up in one of the best places in Moscow, and indeed, in all of Russia. The best job of my career, a wealth of new technologies for me, annual salary increases, and a fantastic team.<\/p>\n

Here, one would calm down, right? But it didn\u2019t happen. There's no one specific reason that pushed me to decide on a move (I'm avoiding the word 'emigration' for now). It's a little of everything: a desire to test myself (am I able to communicate in English all the time?), boredom with a quiet life (stepping out of my comfort zone), and uncertainty about the future in Russia (both economically and socially). One way or another, since 2017, alongside my desire, I began to take active steps.<\/p>\n

K\u00ebrkimi i pun\u00ebs<\/h2>\n

\nI started by wanting to find out more about a vacancy that had caught my eye for about four years, if not all six \u2014 \u2018C++ programmer needed for a Russian-Vietnamese company in Hanoi.\u2019 I overcame my introversion and reached out to unfamiliar people in social networks \u2014 Russian employees of that company. It quickly became clear that such conversations were quite useful, and there was nothing to do in Vietnam. Okay, let's keep looking.<\/p>\n

Of foreign languages, I only know English. I read, of course. I also try to watch movies and series in the original language (with subtitles; it's uncomfortable without them). Therefore, I initially decided to limit myself to English-speaking countries in Europe. Because I was not ready to move beyond Europe, neither then nor now (my parents are getting older, and I need to keep an eye on my apartment sometimes). There are exactly three English-speaking countries in Europe \u2014 the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Malta. So, which one to choose? Of course, London!<\/p>\n

Bloomberg L.P.<\/h3>\n

\nI updated\/created profiles on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Monster, and StackOverflow, reworked my resume, and translated it into English. I started browsing job vacancies and stumbled upon Bloomberg. I remembered that a year or two earlier, someone had sent me a brochure from Bloomberg, and everything was described so wonderfully, including assistance with relocation, that I decided \u2014 I will try to get there.<\/p>\n

Endeavoring to send anything somewhere, in May 2017, I was contacted by a recruiter from London. He offered a position at some finance-related startup and suggested a phone conversation. On the appointed day and hour, he called my Russian number, and word by word, he informed me that I should try Bloomberg, as they were seeking people for plus roles. And the finance-related startup? Well, they no longer needed anyone there, or something along those lines. Anyway, I actually needed to go to Bloomberg.<\/p>\n

The very fact that I was able to speak with a real Englishman (yes, he was a real Englishman), and that I understood him and he understood me, was inspiring. I registered where I needed to, sent my resume for a specific position, indicating that this recruiter found me and guided me. I was scheduled for my first video interview in a couple of weeks. The recruiter provided me with preparatory materials, and I rummaged through the reviews on Glassdoor myself. <\/p>\n

I was interviewed by an Indian for about an hour. The questions were largely similar (or even identical) to those I had already studied. There were both theoretical questions and actual coding tasks. What delighted me most by the end was being able to carry on a conversation; I understood the Indian. The second video call was scheduled for about a week and a half later. This time, there were two interviewers, one of whom was clearly Russian-speaking. I was not only solving tasks for them but also asking my prepared questions, inquiring about their projects. After an hour of conversation, they said I would have a 5-minute break, and then the next pair of interviewers would come in. I didn't anticipate this, but, of course, I had no objections. And again: they presented me with tasks, and I had questions for them. So, a total of two hours of interviewing.<\/p>\n

However, I was invited to the final interview (as the recruiter explained) in London! I was given an invitation letter, with which I went to the visa center and paid for my UK visa out of my own pocket. The inviting party covered the tickets and hotel expenses. In mid-July, I headed to London.<\/p>\n
