Uppsägningar på Google har påverkat ledarna som främjat öppna projekt

Information continues to emerge about the results of the mass layoffs at Google, resulting in approximately 12,000 employees being let go (6% of the total workforce). In addition to the layoffs of some developers from the Fuchsia OS, previously reported, the cuts also affected several notable figures who promoted open source software and oversaw the company’s open projects. For instance, among those laid off were Christopher DiBona, who has served as director of engineering and Open Source projects at Google since 2004 (among other things, thanks to Christopher, projects such as Android, Chromium, Kubernetes, Go, and TensorFlow came to be), Jeremy Allison, one of the leaders of the Samba project, Cat Allman, program manager for Open Source Outreach and Making & Science, and Dave Lester, who defined Google’s open code strategy and promoted the initiative to strengthen the security of open projects.
