Release of the Eleventh ALT platform p11 (Salvia) has occurred.
In the new stable branch, package builds are produced for the architectures:
- x86_64;
- i586;
- aarch64;
- Elbrus: e2k (v3, 4C) and e2kv4 (8C/1C+), as well as e2kv5 (8SV), and the new e2kv6.
The repository for x86_64 will retain multilib support. For 32-bit architectures mipsel, armh (armv7a), and 64-bit ppc64le, branch p11 is not created.
The platform is designed for the development, testing, distribution, updating, and support of complex solutions at all levels â from embedded devices to enterprise servers and data centers; created and developed by the ALT Linux Team, supported by the company "Bazalt SPO."
The Eleventh platform gathers solutions related to directory service operation, migration from proprietary infrastructure, and others.
Nya versioner av applikationer
At the time of the p11 branch release, the available Linux kernels are 6.1, 6.6, 3.10 (OpenVZ). rt-6.1.90 (with real-time patches). For the system environment, systemd 255.6, Glibc 2.38, and a set of GCC compilers 13.2, 12.3, 11.4 are provided.
Network services and connections have been updated: NetworkManager has been upgraded to version 1.46, the multifunctional DNS server BIND 9.18, nginx 1.24, Apache httpd 2.4, postfix 3.8.
For p11 users, the available desktop environments are GNOME 46, KDE 5.116, MATE 1.28, Xfce 4.18, and others. Current versions of web browsers are compiled: Firefox has been updated to 126.0; Firefox ESR 115.11 is available; Chromium 125.0 and Chromium-gost 124.0. The official client for the Telegram messenger, telegram-desktop version 5.0, is included in the platform. Audio applications have been updated. The JACK audio input/output server has been removed from the repository in favor of pipewire-jack, a compatibility layer with JACK for PipeWire.
Group Policies in Linux
The new stable branch features a solution for implementing group policies in the "Alt" OS, based on the Samba project â an alternative to Active Directory for Linux/Unix. A set of utilities includes graphical management tools for group policies in Linux ADMC and GPUI, as well as the group policy application mechanism gpupdate. Currently, in versions p10 and p11, the applications are synchronized: ADMC 0.16, GPUI 0.2, gpupdate 0.10. Support is planned to continue until the end of p10 support.
In p11, a stable version of Samba 4.20 is available along with Kerberos 1.21.
