Projektet syftar till att anv\u00e4ndas p\u00e5 Linux och FreeBSD.      <\/p>\n<p>Kompatibiliteten med i3 s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lls p\u00e5 kommandoniv\u00e5, konfigurationsfiler och IPC, vilket g\u00f6r det m\u00f6jligt att anv\u00e4nda Sway som en transparent ers\u00e4ttning f\u00f6r i3, som anv\u00e4nder Wayland ist\u00e4llet f\u00f6r X11. Sway till\u00e5ter att f\u00f6nster placeras logiskt snarare \u00e4n rumsligt. F\u00f6nstren ordnas i ett rutn\u00e4t som optimalt utnyttjar sk\u00e4rmytan och m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r snabb man\u00f6vrering av f\u00f6nster enbart med tangentbordet.   <\/p>\n<p>F\u00f6r att skapa en fullst\u00e4ndig anv\u00e4ndarmilj\u00f6 erbjuds f\u00f6ljande komponenter: swayidle (en bakgrundsprocess med KDE idle-protokollimplementering), swaylock (sk\u00e4rmsl\u00e4ckare), mako (notifieringshanterare), grim (screenshot-tagnings), slurp (markerar en del av sk\u00e4rmen), wf-recorder (videoinspelning), waybar (applikationspanel), virtboard (sk\u00e4rm-tangentbord), wl-clipboard (hantering av urklipp), wallutils (hantering av skrivbordsbakgrund).    <\/p>\n<p>Sway utvecklas som ett modul\u00e4rt projekt, byggt p\u00e5 biblioteket wlroots, d\u00e4r alla grundl\u00e4ggande primitiva f\u00f6r att organisera arbetet f\u00f6r den kompositiella hanteraren \u00e4r placerade. Wlroots inkluderar backends f\u00f6r att abstrahera \u00e5tkomst till sk\u00e4rmen, inmatningsenheter, rendering utan direkt \u00e5tkomst till OpenGL, interaktion med KMS\/DRM, libinput, Wayland och X11 (bjuder p\u00e5 ett lager f\u00f6r att k\u00f6ra X11-applikationer baserat p\u00e5 Xwayland). Ut\u00f6ver Sway anv\u00e4nds biblioteket wlroots aktivt i andra projekt, inklusive Librem5 och Cage. F\u00f6rutom C\/C++ har bindningar utvecklats f\u00f6r Scheme, Common Lisp, Go, Haskell, OCaml, Python och Rust.        <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>I den nya utg\u00e5van:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> M\u00f6jlighet att flytta flikar med musen har lagts till.\n<li class=\"l\"> St\u00f6d f\u00f6r utdata till virtuella verklighetshj\u00e4lmar har lagts till.\n<li class=\"l\"> Kommandon \"output render_bit_depth\" har lagts till f\u00f6r att aktivera f\u00e4rgdjupsl\u00e4get i kompositutg\u00e5ngen.\n<li class=\"l\"> Tillf\u00f6rlitligheten och prestandan f\u00f6r utdata fr\u00e5n helsk\u00e4rmsf\u00f6nster har f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttrats (genom dmabuf m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r direkt utdata utan extra buffring).\n<li class=\"l\"> Protokollet xdg-activation-v1 har aktiverats, vilket m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r \u00f6verf\u00f6ring av fokus mellan olika niv\u00e5 1-ytor (till exempel kan ett program med hj\u00e4lp av xdg-activation byta fokus till ett annat).\n<li class=\"l\"> Alternativet client.focused_tab_title har lagts till f\u00f6r att st\u00e4lla in f\u00e4rgen p\u00e5 den aktiva fliken.\n<li class=\"l\"> Kommandon \"output modeline\" har lagts till f\u00f6r att st\u00e4lla in en egen DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) l\u00e4ge.\n<li class=\"l\"> Kommandon \"output dpms toggle\" har lagts till f\u00f6r att f\u00f6renkla avst\u00e4ngning av sk\u00e4rmen fr\u00e5n skript. Kommandon \"gaps   toggle \", \"smart_gaps inverse_outer\" och \"split none\" har ocks\u00e5 lagts till.\n<li class=\"l\"> Alternativet \"\u2014my-next-gpu-wont-be-nvidia\" har tagits bort, ist\u00e4llet b\u00f6r l\u00e4get \"\u2014unsupported-gpu\" anv\u00e4ndas. Propriet\u00e4ra NVIDIA-drivrutiner st\u00f6ds fortfarande inte.\n<li class=\"l\"> Den standardinst\u00e4llda terminalemulatorn har ersatts med foot.\n<li class=\"l\"> M\u00f6jlighet att st\u00e4nga
