RPM4-projektet utvecklas av f\u00f6retaget Red Hat och anv\u00e4nds i distributioner som RHEL (inklusive derivat som CentOS, Scientific Linux, AsiaLinux, Red Flag Linux, Oracle Linux), Fedora, SUSE, openSUSE, ALT Linux, OpenMandriva, Mageia, PCLinuxOS, Tizen och m\u00e5nga fler. Tidigare utvecklades projektet RPM5 av ett oberoende team av utvecklare, men det \u00e4r inte kopplat till RPM4 och har f\u00f6r n\u00e4rvarande blivit \u00f6vergivet (har inte uppdaterats sedan 2010). Projektets kod distribueras under licenserna GPLv2 och LGPLv2.          <\/p>\n<p>De mest m\u00e4rkbara f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttringarna i RPM 4.18:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\">
