F\u00f6r att s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lla portabilitet har delar av koden anv\u00e4nts fr\u00e5n projekten OpenNTPD, OpenSSH och LibreSSL. Projektet st\u00f6der majoriteten av specifikationerna f\u00f6r BGP 4 och uppfyller kraven i RFC8212, men f\u00f6rs\u00f6ker inte omfatta allt utan fokuserar huvudsakligen p\u00e5 att st\u00f6dja de mest efterfr\u00e5gade och spridda funktionerna.    <\/p>\n<p>Utvecklingen av OpenBGPD sker med st\u00f6d av den regionala internetregistratorn RIPE NCC, som \u00e4r intresserad av att g\u00f6ra funktionaliteten hos OpenBGPD anv\u00e4ndbar f\u00f6r <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/sv\/server\/dts-gdansk\/\"   title=\"servrar\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4558\">servrar<\/a> f\u00f6r routing vid interconnection points f\u00f6r trafikutbyte (IXP) och f\u00f6r att skapa ett fullgott alternativ till BIRD-paketet (bland andra \u00f6ppna alternativ med BGP-implementering kan n\u00e4mnas projekten FRRouting, GoBGP, ExaBGP och Bio-Routing).     <\/p>\n<p>I projektet l\u00e4ggs stort fokus p\u00e5 att s\u00e4kerst\u00e4lla h\u00f6gsta niv\u00e5 av s\u00e4kerhet och tillf\u00f6rlitlighet. F\u00f6r skydd anv\u00e4nds strikta kontroller av alla parametrar, verktyg f\u00f6r att \u00f6vervaka gr\u00e4nserna f\u00f6r buffertar, separering av privilegier och begr\u00e4nsning av \u00e5tkomst till systemanrop. Andra f\u00f6rdelar inkluderar en anv\u00e4ndarv\u00e4nlig syntax f\u00f6r konfigurationsdefinitionsspr\u00e5ket samt h\u00f6g prestanda och effektivitet i minneshantering (till exempel kan OpenBGPD hantera routingtabeller som omfattar hundratusentals poster).     <\/p>\n<p>Bland \u00e4ndringarna i OpenBGPD 8.0:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Inledande st\u00f6d f\u00f6r Flowspec (RFC5575) har lagts till. I nuvarande form st\u00f6ds endast annonsering av flowspec-regler.\n<li class=\"l\"> Funktionerna f\u00f6r kommandoparsaren i verktyget bgpctl har ut\u00f6kats, s\u00e5 att den nu kan hantera fl\u00f6despecifika kommandon och konstruktioner som &#171;bgpctl show rib 192.0.2.0\/24 detail&#187;.\n<li class=\"l\"> En semaphore f\u00f6r skydd av publicering av data fr\u00e5n sessionen RTR (RPKI till Router) i RDE (Route Decision Engine) har lagts till.\n<li class=\"l\"> Ett fel orsakad av den nya ASPA-objektet i RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure) har \u00e5tg\u00e4rdats.
