Problemet orsakas av en referens till ett redan frigivet minnesomr\u00e5de (use-after-free) i koden som hanterar ljud som \u00f6verf\u00f6rs via Bluetooth LE.     <\/p>\n<p>S\u00e5rbarheten uppt\u00e4cktes tack vare integreringen av ytterligare skydd i anropet till hardened_malloc, som anv\u00e4nder ARMv8.5 MTE (MemTag, Memory Tagging Extension), vilket m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r koppling av taggar till varje minnesallokeringsoperation och organiserar verifiering av korrekt anv\u00e4ndning av pekare f\u00f6r att blockera utnyttjande av s\u00e5rbarheter som orsakas av referenser till redan frigjorda minnesblock, buffert\u00f6verskridningar, referenser f\u00f6re initialisering och anv\u00e4ndning utanf\u00f6r aktuell kontext.     <\/p>\n<p>Felet visar sig b\u00f6rja med uppdateringen Android 14 QPR2 (Quarterly Platform Release), som publicerades i b\u00f6rjan av mars. MTE-mekanismen i den grundl\u00e4ggande kodbasen f\u00f6r Android 14 \u00e4r tillg\u00e4nglig som ett alternativ och till\u00e4mpas f\u00f6r n\u00e4rvarande inte som standard, men i GrapheneOS har den redan aktiverats f\u00f6r ytterligare skydd, vilket m\u00f6jliggjort diagnostisering av felet efter uppdateringen till Android 14 QPR2. Felet ledde till ett kraschat system vid anv\u00e4ndning av Bluetooth-h\u00f6rlurar Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro med firmware d\u00e4r MTE-skyddet var aktiverat.
