The developers also remind that besides OpenBSD, <strong>OpenBGPD-portable<\/strong> works on <strong>FreeBSD<\/strong> and Linux distributions <strong>Alpine, Debian, Fedora, RHEL\/CentOS, and Ubuntu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What's new in OpenBGPD 9.1<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>improved outbound filter processing by storing rules in an array and deduplicating identical filters between peers;<\/li>\n<li>enhanced error logging for parsing attributes that trigger session reset via UPDATE ATTRLIST error notification;<\/li>\n<li>new memory metrics added for show rib memory, some of which are also available in show neighbor;<\/li>\n<li>fixed a logical error in handling MRT dump configurations for per-peer and per-group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The main focus of OpenBGPD 9.1 is not on expanding the feature set but on enhancing performance in high-load scenarios. The  <strong>outbound filters<\/strong>: rules are now stored in an array, and identical filters between neighbors are deduplicated. According to the project's authors, together with changes in filter_set, this reduces the duration of the initial synchronization on large route servers by over <strong>25%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Improved processing of <strong>filter_sets<\/strong> during the <strong>RDE<\/strong>. The project abandoned the previous scheme in favor of a linear array of set objects to reduce the number of cache misses and thus speed up route processing through the filtering policy. For network operators, this essentially means a continuation of the optimization course for OpenBGPD under heavy configurations and intensive BGP scenarios, where not only correctness but also predictable behavior under load is important.<\/p>\n<p>Another notable change concerns observability. OpenBGPD 9.1 has added <strong>new memory metrics<\/strong>, accessible via the show rib memory command; some of this data is now also tracked <strong>per neighbors<\/strong> and displayed via show neighbor. Simultaneously, error logging has been improved for parsing attributes that can lead to BGP session resets with notifications <strong>UPDATE ATTRLIST error<\/strong>.
