En ny version av Scientific Linux 8, baserad p\u00e5 paketbasen <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=49613\">Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8<\/a><\/noindex>, kommer inte att bildas.<\/p>\n<p>Ist\u00e4llet f\u00f6r att underh\u00e5lla en egen distribution planerar utvecklarna fr\u00e5n Fermilab att samarbeta med CERN och andra forskningsorganisationer f\u00f6r att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra CentOS och g\u00f6ra det till en mer kvalitativ plattform f\u00f6r datorsystem som anv\u00e4nds vid organisationen av experiment inom h\u00f6genergifysik. \u00d6verg\u00e5ngen till CentOS kommer att m\u00f6jligg\u00f6ra en enhetlig ber\u00e4kningsplattform f\u00f6r vetenskapliga till\u00e4mpningar, vilket kommer att f\u00f6renkla arbetet i befintliga och framtida gemensamma internationella projekt som involverar olika laboratorier och institutioner. <\/p>\n<p>De resurser som frig\u00f6rs genom att deleguera uppgifterna kring underh\u00e5ll av distributionen och infrastrukturen till CentOS-projektet kommer att kunna riktas mot att f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttra komponenter som \u00e4r specifika f\u00f6r vetenskaplig anv\u00e4ndning. \u00d6verg\u00e5ngen fr\u00e5n Scientific Linux till CentOS b\u00f6r inte orsaka n\u00e5gra problem, eftersom specifika vetenskapliga applikationer och ytterligare drivrutiner redan har flyttats till externa repositoryn under f\u00f6rberedelserna av versionen Scientific Linux 6.  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/fedoraproject.org\/wiki\/EPEL\">EPEL<\/a><\/noindex> och <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/elrepo.org\/\">elrepo.org<\/a><\/noindex>Precis som i fallet med CentOS var skillnaderna mellan Scientific Linux och RHEL huvudsakligen relaterade till rebranding och rensning av kopplingarna till Red Hat-tj\u00e4nster. <\/p>\n<p>Underh\u00e5llet av de existerande versionerna Scientific Linux 6.x och 7.x kommer att forts\u00e4tta of\u00f6r\u00e4ndrat, synkront med den normala <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/access.redhat.com\/support\/policy\/updates\/errata\">supportcykeln<\/a><\/noindex> f\u00f6r RHEL 6.x och 7.x.
