Denna s\u00e5rbarhet kan leda till en buffert\u00f6verskridning n\u00e4r anv\u00e4ndaren byter sitt l\u00f6senord. Genom att utnyttja denna s\u00e5rbarhet kan en lokal angripare med \u00e5tkomst till PostgreSQL, genom att s\u00e4tta ett v\u00e4ldigt l\u00e5ngt l\u00f6senord, exekvera sin kod med de r\u00e4ttigheter som den anv\u00e4ndare som k\u00f6r SGBD har. Dessutom kan s\u00e5rbarheten utnyttjas p\u00e5 klientsidan under SCRAM-autentisering med libpq, n\u00e4r anv\u00e4ndaren interagerar med en PostgreSQL-server som kontrolleras av angriparen.
