Kryptering \u00e4r m\u00f6jlig tack vare protokollet <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.matrix.org\/matrix-org\/olm\/blob\/master\/docs\/olm.md\">Olm<\/a>, som \u00e4r baserat p\u00e5 Signal-messengerprotokollet. Krypteringen av gruppchattar anv\u00e4nder en protokollextension som kallas <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.matrix.org\/matrix-org\/olm\/-\/blob\/master\/docs\/megolm.md\">Megolm<\/a>, vilket till\u00e5ter dekryptering av meddelandet flera g\u00e5nger.<\/p>\n<p><\/noindex><br \/>\n<noindex><\/p>\n<p>F\u00f6r f\u00f6rsta g\u00e5ngen introducerades valfri kryptering <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/matrix.org\/blog\/2016\/11\/21\/matrixs-olm-end-to-end-encryption-security-assessment-released-and-implemented-cross-platform-on-riot-at-last\">2016<\/a>. Standardinf\u00f6randet i experimentella versioner skedde under FOSDEM 2020.<\/p>\n<p><\/noindex><\/p>\n<p>Sedan den f\u00f6rsta versionen av krypteringsimplementationen har f\u00f6ljande funktioner lagts till:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>klienten kan beg\u00e4ra nycklar f\u00f6r att dekryptera meddelanden fr\u00e5n andra klienter som anv\u00e4ndaren har, eller fr\u00e5n klienter hos samtalspartners;<\/li>\n<li>det har skapats en serverlagring f\u00f6r klienternas krypteringsnycklar, som \u00e4r krypterad med en hemlig fras;<\/li>\n<li>ut\u00f6ver verifiering av enheter via fingeravtryck, har ocks\u00e5 verifiering genom emoji-symboler introducerats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I framtiden planeras standardins\u00e4ttning av kryptering inte bara f\u00f6r privata chattar, utan \u00e4ven f\u00f6r st\u00e4ngda rum \u00f6verhuvudtaget, inklusive grupper.<\/p>\n<p>Det n\u00e4mns ocks\u00e5:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>inf\u00f6randet av ett nytt anv\u00e4ndargr\u00e4nssnitt f\u00f6r kryptering;<\/li>\n<li>verifiering av enheter med hj\u00e4lp av QR-koder;<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/matrix-org\/seshat\">s\u00f6kning i historiken f\u00f6r krypterade meddelanden<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>och slutlig stabilisering av funktionaliteten.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><noindex><\/p>\n<p>S\u00f6kning i krypterade rum \u00e4r redan tillg\u00e4ngligt med hj\u00e4lp av <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/stoically\/radical\">Firefox-till\u00e4gget Radical<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/noindex><br \/>\n<noindex><\/p>\n<p>F\u00f6r att underl\u00e4tta arbetet med krypteringsnycklar har utvecklarna av Matrix-protokollet inf\u00f6rt en mekanism kallad \"cross-signing\". Den g\u00f6r det m\u00f6jligt att automatiskt verifiera andra enheter hos anv\u00e4ndaren genom att anv\u00e4nda en redan bekr\u00e4ftad enhet.
