Delta Smart City Solutions: Have you ever wondered how green a cinema can be?

At COMPUTEX 2019 in early summer, Delta showcased its unique green 8K cinema as well as a range of IoT solutions designed for modern, green cities. In this post, we talk in detail about various innovations, including smart charging systems for electric vehicles.

Delta Smart City Solutions: Have you ever wondered how green a cinema can be?

Today, every company is striving to develop more environmentally friendly and advanced projects, supporting the trend of creating Smart Cities. Delta's portfolio also has interesting products that surprise with their manufacturability and at the same time the ability to save energy, and we will talk about them today.

8K green cinema

The heart of Delta's green cinema is the INSIGHT Laser 8K projector. It is the first model in the world to achieve 25 lumens at 000K DLP resolution. Using such a device, you can show viewers films with a resolution of up to 8 x 7680, though there are only a few of them so far. At the same time, INSIGHT Laser 4320K has a contrast ratio of 8: 20, its lamp life is 000 hours.

The device sets a new level of detail and allows you to create a more impressive and detailed picture. Thanks to this, it can be used not only in cinemas, but also in particle physics simulation or industrial visualization.

During the COMPUTEX 2019 World Technology Fair, traditionally held in Taiwan, a documentary film about the island in 8K resolution, shot specifically for this demonstration - Water with Life in Taiwan, dedicated to the problems of resource recovery and ecology, was shown in the Delta Green Cinema.

The first "green" 8K cinema also installed a ready-made engineering systems management system for launching screenings. She worked according to three predetermined scenarios: greeting the audience, screening the film, and ending the screening. At each stage, the required level of lighting was determined, and the drives that opened and closed the curtains were also triggered. Air quality sensors and a video surveillance system that determines the number of visitors ensured the most comfortable atmosphere in the hall throughout the session. At the same time, the system shows impressive energy efficiency.

The real feature of the "green" cinema is the integration ... with the charging system for electric vehicles. The manufacturer demonstrated new chargers for electric vehicles at COMPUTEX 2019 V2H/V2G EV Charger, which were built into the power system of the cinema. Each connected electric car can be not only a consumer, but also a large battery capable of supplying energy to the grid if necessary. Such a scheme allows you to charge an electric car and at the same time compensate for a short-term increase in the load in the power grid. This makes it possible to minimize the cost of electricity and reduce losses in the power grid, which means more economical use of natural resources. By the way, such a scheme for installing chargers for electric vehicles, which are expected to be charged in parking lots near cinemas in the near future, can bring savings to both homeowners and business center management companies.

Complementing the complex of IT solutions for servicing the cinema is the management system for server and data processing centers InfraSuite. It guarantees the necessary cooling and optimal power distribution using cabinets (PDC) and distribution blocks in racks. Using InfraSuite allows you to save up to 25% on energy consumption of data centers and server rooms, significantly increasing PUE (the ratio of energy consumption of IT equipment and engineering systems).

And a few more IoT solutions

In addition to the "green" cinema, a whole series of energy-efficient solutions from the "Internet of Things" (IoT - Internet of Things) segment was presented at the COMPUTEX exhibition.

Because true energy efficiency can only be achieved through centralized control, Delta's enteliWEB web panel integrates HVAC, lighting, video surveillance and other building management systems. The software constantly analyzes energy consumption parameters and helps to optimize heating and air conditioning costs.

For individual rooms and premises, such as auditoriums, offices or meeting rooms, a system was developed O3 Room Automation. It includes various controllers and sensors that help create a human-adapted environment. Modular solutions let you control HVAC, room access and lighting, and O3 Sensor Hub reads the parameters of lighting, sound volume and movement in the audience, on the basis of which the automatic climate control system works.

Smart lighting based on LED lamps Versa DALI makes it possible to save electricity by adjusting the level of illumination in the daytime. If the bright sun shines through the windows, then the additional lighting in the room becomes minimal, and when it gets a little darker outside, the light control system independently increases the brightness of the lamps.

Use of a surveillance camera in a green cinema VIVOTEK Fisheye worth mentioning separately. It is based on a 12-megapixel sensor and can shoot continuously with a viewing angle of 180Β° or 360Β°, depending on the installation location and surveillance tasks. Intelligent camera capabilities allow you to analyze data directly on the device. For example, the VIVOTEK People Counting function counts the number of visitors by compiling "heat maps", which indicate the places of maximum congestion of people, that is, points of attraction. This technology helps to choose the best places to install new storefronts and thus increase the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

It is also possible to recognize faces in crowded places with high speed and accuracy. The use of smart cameras can reduce the burden on security personnel and increase the operational efficiency of the company through automatic data collection.

The microclimate inside any room can be supported by a ready-made solution UNO Indoor Environment Quality. All necessary air parameters, including temperature and humidity, are read by UNOsense sensors. Based on this data, UNOac air conditioners and UNOerv ventilation systems provide a comfortable indoor environment. The system is managed through the UNOcloud cloud interface and uses electricity with maximum efficiency.

Delta built-in fans are equipped with a high-tech filter - it cleans the air from fine particles of PM2.5, which can circulate in the air for weeks without proper purification. Built-in sensors help monitor CO2 levels and harmful microorganism (VOC) levels.

A Power Conditioning System (PCS) can be used to effectively distribute the load on the network. It compensates for reactive power (which is actually dissipated as heat) and helps offload the grid at peak loads by using powerful batteries. By the way, the charging of the latter occurs only during hours of minimum load and low cost of electricity.
