AMA with Habr #15. New Year's and the shortest episode! Chat

It usually happens on the last Friday of each month, but this time it's the last Tuesday of the year. But the essence won't change—under the cut, there'll be a list of changes on Habr this month, along with an invitation to ask the Habr team questions. But since there won't be many questions (and our team has already spread out a bit), I suggest we skip straight to the festive part—let's wish each other well in the comments. the fast of goodness is declared open!

List of changes on Habr for December

1. Rebranding

We rebranded our projects so that they would all become part of Habr. This was a huge task that took up a lot of resources, but it had to be done. We covered this in more detail in two publications:

- AT official version from Deniskin
- AT unofficial version from me.

We simply couldn't decide whose text we would publish. Then we became curious about whose post would get the most views—we published both posts simultaneously and began to observe.

Š”onclusionDeniskin isn't much of a fan of emojis, so I hid one in a spoiler. So, here's the bottom line: an old horse never spoils a furrow :) And Deniskin won the rating. But my post won the rest, in part because of the built-in contest—we'll announce the results very soon.

2. New navigation

The rebranding resulted in a new navigation—it's not so much new as updated—with a redesigned top menu and some sections. Are you used to it yet?

3. Collapsing comment threads on desktop

Comments are redundant—if so, simply collapse them and they're no longer redundant. Threads will remain collapsed after refreshing the page—all data is stored in LocalStorage (apparently it stores up to 500 posts).

4. PowerShell syntax highlighting

At your request.

5. A tool for highlighting important posts

The events with NGINX inspired us to develop a tool for additional coverage of important materials—a link to them is attached directly to the Habr logo. We tested it again on the NGINX topic—it works, so we'll be using it in important cases.

And numerous bug fixes that you reported to us: in post scrolling, in the API, in mechanics new downvote.

Wishes

Oh, and I'm no expert at this, but it would be strange without some wishes. I wish everyone good health—it's the most important and precious thing, take care of it. And everything else can be acquired: success at work and at home, in other areas—a lot depends on you, so put in the effort, don't be lazy. Happiness—again, everyone forges their own, so forge on. And love, of course šŸ™‚
