“WWDC20 will be our biggest yet, bringing together our global developer community of more than 23 million people in an unprecedented way for a week in June to discuss the future of Apple platforms,” said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of global marketing. “We can't wait to meet the global developer community online in June to share with them all the new tools we're working on to help them create even more incredible apps and services.” We look forward to sharing more details about WWDC20 with everyone interested.”

Apple also plans to host a Swift Student Challenge, the winner of which will receive a scholarship from the company.

“Students are an integral part of the Apple developer community, and last year more than 350 student developers from 37 countries attended WWDC,” said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering. “As we look forward to WWDC20, even though our event will be virtual this year, we want to celebrate the creative contributions of our young developers from around the world. We can’t wait to see this generation of innovative thinkers turn their ideas into reality through the Swift Student Challenge.”

Student developers from around the world can enter the competition by creating an interactive scene in Swift Playgrounds that can be tested in three minutes. Winners will receive exclusive WWDC 2020 jackets and pin sets. For more information, visit Apple's website.
