The statement of claim states that Apple took possession of classified information during the period when it collaborated with Masimo. According to past agreements, Apple was not supposed to disclose this information, but the company later lured several key Masimo employees who had information about the latest developments of the medical company. Masimo and Cercacor have alleged that Apple is illegally using ten patented technologies in its smartwatches. Among other things, we are talking about technologies for measuring heart rate, as well as a method for recording oxygen levels in the blood.

According to reports, Apple approached Masimo in 2013 with a proposal for cooperation. At the time, Apple representatives said that the company wanted to β€œlearn more about Masimo technologies, which could later be integrated into Apple products.” However, Apple later hired several employees of the healthcare company who had β€œunfettered access” to confidential technical information.

According to the statement of claim, Masimo and Cercacor want to prohibit Apple from further using their patented technologies, and also intend to recover monetary damages from the defendant.
