Blizzard apologizes for its approach to the Blitzchung scandal, but hasn't lifted the punishment

According to Brack, the team made a decision too quickly and did not have time to discuss the situation with the fans.

“Blizzard had the opportunity to bring the world together at a difficult time in Hearthstone esports about a month ago, but we didn't. We reacted too quickly and then we were too slow to discuss this with you,” he said. “We have not lived up to the high standards we have set for ourselves, and for that I apologize and accept responsibility. […] We will improve in the future, and our actions will prove it. Everyone has the right to express themselves."

Recall that at the Grandmasters 2019 tournament on the card collectible game Hearthstone, Chan Ng Wei cried out live "Liberate Hong Kong, the revolution of our century!". Blizzard Entertainment banned him from participating in any of the official championships for a year, and suspended the two hosts who were present at the same time. Then the company went to meet the fans and softened the sentence of Blitzchung. Despite the above, Jay Allen Brack is not going to completely cancel the punishment of either Ng Wei or the hosts. On the contrary, the president of Blizzard Entertainment is of the opinion that it should have been done.

“If we hadn’t taken any action, if we hadn’t done anything, then imagine what a mark it would leave in the future when we conduct interviews,” he said. “There will come a time when people will start making statements for whatever reason and whenever they feel like it.”

The company also recently banned for half a year to three American students who held up a banner reading "Liberate Hong Kong, boycott Blizz" during the Hearthstone University Championship last week.
