Blizzard plans to release new re-releases and remakes in 2020

Today, more and more major developers and publishers are returning to their old games to re-release them for new platforms, improve graphics, or present a full-fledged remake. Blizzard is no exception: during a recent earnings call with investors and analysts, Activision Blizzard CFO Dennis Durkin said that the company plans to release new re-releases and remakes of its games in 2020.

Among other things, he noted: "...In addition, the business units will continue to look to our portfolio of fan-favorite games to bring several updated and reimagined titles to our fans in 2020, which we will announce closer to launch."

It is unknown which games we can count on updating - we will have to be patient and wait for official announcements. In addition, the statement was made by Activision Blizzard, so it may concern not only projects from the Blizzard catalog, but also from the Activision library - for example, the Call of Duty series. Fortunately, we had already received both Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered (2016) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019).

The recent revival of Blizzard classics turned into a real scandal: Warcraft III: Reforged it was full of errors, inferior in functionality to the original and did not live up to the promises of the developers. As a result, the game became a record holder for user anti-rating on Metacritic, and Blizzard has already promised twice correct shortcomings ΠΈ bring RTS to mind. At the same time, the company began to return money for the purchase of Warcraft III: Reforged to everyone.

Hopefully Blizzard has learned from its previous mistakes and any future remakes of classics (like those from the Diablo or Warcraft series) will turn out to be much better.
