Publisher Take-Two Interactive regularly reports on sales of GTA games, but fans had to wait 18 years for an update to the cult spin-off from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

We're talking about the open-world action adventure game GTA: Vice City Stories, which was released in the fall of 2006 on the PSP and then made its way to the PS2 the following spring. As of March 2008, the game had sold 4,5 million copies.
How to noticed Game File journalist Stephen Totilo updated GTA: Vice City Stories sales figures for the first time in 18 years as Take-Two was forced to update its legal battle with DT Global Investment Holdings.

DT Global Investment Holdings was considering registering the Vice City Subs trademark for its new sandwich restaurant, but Take-Two objected (see relevant document).
Take-Two believed the Vice City Subs trademark could evoke associations with Vice City or Vice City Stories. The former sold over 17,5 million copies (old figures), while the latter sold over 7 million units.

Totilo emphasized that Take-Two's statement made no mention of the hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, which follows Vice City and Vice City Stories in taking place in the sunny city of Vice City.
GTA VI will go on sale November 19 2026 years for PS5, Xbox Series X, and S. Contrary to recent rumors, the game will be released simultaneously in digital and retail formats. Marketing campaign starts next summer.
