Capcom is making several RE Engine games, but only Iceborn will be released this fiscal year

"While we can't comment on a specific number of games or release window, there are currently several titles being developed by internal studios on the RE Engine," Capcom executives said. - The games that we developed using the RE Engine during the current generation received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of creating this engine, we retained the ability to improve it for the next generation; thus, we see the RE Engine as one of our strengths, which will contribute to the creation of the next generation of games.”

Recall that the RE Engine was developed Resident Evil 7, remake Resident Evil 2 и Devil May Cry 5.

In the next fiscal year, Capcom plans to release only one major project - the addition of Iceborn to Monster Hunter: World. When asked about the reasons, they answered that it was due to the long development cycles that are currently required to create quality games.

“It's a reality that development cycles tend to expand to keep games up to global standards. So it is possible that there will be one major release in a given fiscal year due to our manufacturing structure,” Capcom executives said. “The profitability of the digital content creation business is growing thanks to widespread, long digital sales cycles, as well as multi-faceted income opportunities, including catalog sales.”

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will September 6 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. PC gamers will have to wait until winter for the expansion.
